Our Wedding

We planned and executed our own small elopement in Denali National Park. Going through the same steps you're doing right now - including using the internet to find an officiant.

Silly Idea

A friend shares a silly post with us about the Church of Gnome. With ten minutes of research, we find out that not only is it legitimate, but they also ordain pets. And the state of Alaska, not being big on regulation, just states that an ordained minister can legally marry people. No minimum age - or species- is specified!  So we get ordained, along with our cat Iggy and dog Charlie.

Equal parts magical and unique

So what's this gonna cost me?

So what does it cost to be married by a cat and their human assistant?  Depends on your specific needs.  Enter your info below, and we'll reach out to get the specifics to make your day magical, and provide you an accurate quote.

FAQ

The Church of Gnome is an actual, official, recognized religion, and certificates of ordainment are available if you need to see them.  And from what we can find any religious leader can perform a legal marriage - so long as you have a notorized marriage license.  There are some age restrictions on using a marriage commissioner, though nothing specific for a religious leader.   Though we don't want to get sued if someone at the court house has a stick up their butt on the day they come accross your paperwork.  We advise you to look for yourself at: https://courts.alaska.gov/shc/family/marriage-faq.htm or consult a lawyer, or consider using one of our ordained individuals for the paperwork portion.

The Church of Gnome is more than just a weird idea; its a living, breathing community with a mission.  We invite you to learn more about our teachings at https://www.churchofgnome.org/gnomean-principles

This is your wedding, so you tell us!   We can wear a standard gnome hat, with the church's crest, a flower bonnet, or no headwear at all if that is what you'd prefer.  Feline and Canine ministers typically only wear gnome hats for photos, as they can be a bit uncomfortable on the ears.

Absolutely!   (Did you miss the two women in the photo above?) One of the ministers is transgender, and all of our furry ministers have had...bottom surgery.  We welcome individuals from all walks of life, no matter their sexual orientation, gender identity, or their spiritual or philosophical traditions.
